Louisiana has high standards for individuals to become plumbers.  There are three levels of experience and skill within the plumbing industry.  Years of training and/or experience are needed to become a skilled plumber.  Louisiana is one state that requires plumbers to be licensed.  An individual must first work as a plumber’s apprentice for at least 5 years before they can take a test to obtain a Journeyman’s License.  Once they pass the Journeyman’s test they must work in the field for several years before he can take the test to become a Master Plumber.

Many skills are involved in the evolution to become a Master Plumber.  Some needed skills include reading drawings and specifications to determine layout of water supply, waste and venting systems.  Installing, repairing and maintaining plumbing fixtures.  Locating and marking positions for pipe connections and fixtures in walls and floors.  Measuring, cutting, bending and threading pipes.  The use of power tools and machines.  Testing pipes for water or gas leaks using air or pressure gauges.  The awareness of legal regulations, codes and safety issues.

At Rooter Man we believe these skills are important as well.  That is why are technicians are constantly attending training and educational seminars to provide our clients with the most skilled and informed plumbers.
