The season of Mardi Gras has arrived! You are probably rushing around trying to get everything ready for your guests if they are coming to town and staying with you. Since your bathrooms, kitchen, and even appliances are about to be used more than at any other time of the year, remember to add a quick plumbing rundown to your list. If you are unsure about the plumbing in your home, it is always a good idea to make an appointment with Rooter Man for routine maintenance. This Mardi Gras season, here are a few ways to get your plumbing ready for visitors.

Check for leaks and clogs

With more people using the sinks and showering, even a small leak or clog could become a big problem. If you find a leak, look into where the water is coming from and try tightening any fittings or pipe joints that might be the problem.

Check the hot water heater in your home

You will require a lot of hot water with added guests. If necessary, think about increasing the water’s temperature safely. One of the most relaxing things to do is take a nice, warm shower, so make sure your hot water heater can do that for both you and your guests.

Clean your drains

Not only will cleaning your drains help keep your sink from overflowing, but it will also make sure that your guests don’t have to stand in water while they try to take a shower. Clean your drains now if you are aware of any problem areas, such as the guest bathroom sink or shower, to ensure that waste and water flow smoothly when guests arrive.

After the Guests Arrive

You’ve done everything you can to prepare for your guests. While they are staying with you, you will need to keep an eye on a few plumbing-related matters.

You should keep an eye on the sink both before and after meals because you don’t want things that shouldn’t be in the garbage disposal. As a reminder, egg shells, coffee grounds, potato peels, fibrous vegetables, and grease do not belong in the sink. We recommend discussing this with your guests if they are going to be in the kitchen.

Toilets can become clogged for a variety of reasons; however, the most important factor to keep in mind is that your guests are accustomed to their bathrooms and may accidentally clog yours without knowing what it can and cannot handle. Have a plunger ready.

Give Rooter Man a call if you prefer not to deal with bathroom and other plumbing issues on your own.   And during Mardi Gras we stay on call for all those last-minute plumbing emergencies.
