At a recent meeting of Rooter Man Technicians and Plumbers, Thomas pointed out that the simplest way to prevent bathtub drain clogs is to not let hair go down the drain. A simple screen that you can buy almost anywhere (hardware store, drug store, etc…) can be placed over the drain to keep hair from going down and causing a clog. A screen costs about $3. A small price to pay to keep your drain unclogged. BUT, you will occasionally have to remove the hair from the screen.
