Why would your washing machine drain clog?Sep 20, 2011
At Rooter Man we get all kinds of questions. So we’ll let our experienced technician, Cap, answer this one.
Cap: The biggest source of a clog from a washing machine is lint. Yes, lint. We see the lint that gets trapped in the dryer lint catcher, but there is no lint catcher in washing machines. So imagine the amount of lint that gets sent out of your washing machine. Although the drain is usually pretty big in diameter the lint catches itself in the drain pipe along with detergent, soap, dirt, coins, oil and grease. It’s a clogging mixture that’s bound to cause problems over the years.
